What we "want" is the primary concern of our flesh. What we "need" is the primary concern of The Holy Spirit. A happy and blessed person is one who gives priority to the Spirit of God by resisting temporal sinful "pleasures," in order to be divinely "pleasing" to our Creator, who knows what's best. When we forsake His Word and instead heed the temptations and pursue sin, we are giving our flesh priority and exchanging the good life for the good lie! We are trading His joy for sorrow, His peace for unrest, His contentment for contempt. The result of a life lived with this priority is a life without spiritual harmony or communion with God. Friends, a life out of harmony with God is a miserable existence! It is a life in despair, often a life shackled in addiction, and full of regret and shame. Do you want to know what the travesty is? That it all starts with the "natural" promptings of our own flesh! When our own bodies cry out and say: " I want it now!" "Give it to me!" Or "I can't live without it!" When we give in for what we perceive will make us happy, all the while knowing it is in direct opposition to The Holy Spirit! Ready for some hope? Right now you can put things back in His order and experience harmony and His peace and joy! How? The Apostle Paul says in Galations 5:16 "So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh" The real question is who or what are we listening to? Where are we tonight? Pray with me tonight, "Father, please forgive us when we ignore your Spirit who faithfully guides us and instead run off after our own fleshly pleasures that lead to misery and despair." We need you, and are desperate for you! Thank you Jesus for paying the price for me on that cross so that I can have a life in victory through you! Amen!
God bless you and thanks for letting me share tonight, Randy Young
