What Does Jesus Wonder About?

What does Jesus "wonder" about? He wonders about our unbelief! He must scratch His head bewildered at our lack of trust, after all, He is almighty, all-powerful, and all-knowing! In the Gospel of Mark Chapter 6:6 it says, " and He wondered at their unbelief." To better understand this let's look at the context of this text. Jesus had come to His hometown with His disciples and found Himself met with doubt, disbelief and scrutiny instead of faith. Keep in mind these were his "friends and family !" They knew Jesus as the son of a carpenter and heard of His teachings and miracles in other places, yet they were not able to receive Him for who He really was...a Rabi, teacher and the Messiah! In fact, His own sisters "took offense at Him." As He saw their hearts He said in verse 4 " a prophet is not without honor except in his own hometown and among his relatives and in his own household." You see, Jesus was probably excited and wanted to bless His family and friends and also teach them and yet, they were unable to see Him for who He was, they were blinded by their own disbelief and doubt. Tonight, there are saints of God in shackles who believe in Jesus Christ, yet, they don't believe He either has the desire, or the power to really transform their life, so they don't receive the freedom He offers! They too are blinded in disbelief! Why? Perhaps we get caught up trying to qualify His credentials like those in the synagogue were doing in His hometown? Maybe we know He will help someone else, but we don't think He either wants to or would do it for us? There are many reasons why people justify their lack of faith, etc. Tonight we all should stop and remember this...as we sit in our shackles, hurting and alone...He is looking with "wonder" at us! He can't understand why you and I won't trust Him! Friend, let me tell you that I trust Him and I chose to let Him break my shackles and pull me up and out of my pit! He dusted me off, healed by broken heart, restored what was lost and helped me exchange the "good lie" the world offers for the "good life in Him! Will you trust Him?
