What's wrong with just accepting and living with the little "sins" that we are so apt to do? Because they are sins! We can become all too comfortable with our inherent propensity to sin, that we can start to reclassify them in our own life and in society in general if we're not careful, What happens? Maybe we take our eyes off God's standard in His Holy Bible and rather look all around us and see so many others doing as bad or worse than we are, so we figure we aren't that bad! Yes... we know the truth and yet we still might try and rationalize away our conscience...be careful, before long we can quench the Holy Spirit in our life. Here's a question for all of us. Does God look at His children and say, "well since most of you all are doing it, I guess it's okay then... ?" Of course not! The Bible says God is the same yesterday, today and forever! That means what he thought 2000 years ago about sin is the same today! Take a moment to consider that! What's so wrong with this "grading ourselves on a curve mentality?" I believe It stunts our growth as believers in Christ. It keeps us locked up in shackles of darkness and shame, while thwarting God's best for us. Plus, after a period of time we may no longer truly agonize over our sin, instead we are prone to wander away and off the straight and narrow and can be more apt to fall for untruths! Imagine actually thanking God for His "grace" while on our way to sin more! I used to be that guy! One of the biggest lies from the pulpit in some mega-churches has to do with this type of "grace theology" which is designed to liberate us from legalism and works but can do far more deleterious harm than good! For example...keeping God's children in denial and darkness and from bending a knee through confession with a broken and contrite heart. Personally, I am so thankful to take my heavy heart and conscience to my loving Father, through Jesus Christ, my Lord and Savior and receive cleansing and forgiveness. Friend, how often do you bathe? That's how often we need to get cleansed ! This is a fallen world and we're not home yet! We need to keep our heart pure, ears open, and lips praising Him as we walk this road! Matthew 7:14 But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it. Thanks for letting me share, Randy Young
