![]() A speck, a dash, a mere molecule…that is how long we are alive on earth…compared to eternity. Yet, for some of us, we are living on the earth as if it is the end all, final destination. I heard a pastor one time ask us all to take a stroll in a graveyard sometime and “look at the nicest headstone you can find.” Then he said, “notice the numbers under the name, there is a birth date, and the date the person was deceased, a.k.a. death date” …now look at the dash between those two numbers. That is a real good representation of how long we are alive compared to eternity…a mere dash from start to finish.” Yet, no matter how many times we are reminded of how short life is, we can become easily overwhelmed by today’s trials and tribulations. There are some of us tonight who know Christ, were taught as children the Bible, and slowly have drifted away, now maybe we find ourselves ensnared by bad habits and addictions. . There are others who have found themselves out of work, and are scraping together meals for their family with anything they can find, they're scared, don’t know what the future holds, and need a miracle. There are others who have lost loved ones and are all alone during this Christmas season, they need comfort from above. Tonight during these Quiet Moments, we are reminded of James Chapter 1 verse 12, " Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him. We must never forget that we are sojourners, and that no matter what we are faced with tonight we do have an audience with the ONE who created us, and will comfort and provide all of our needs according to His riches and glory.
